Medicare allows eligible patients with chronic injuries or illnesses (e.g. osteoarthritis) to benefit from bulk billing. To be eligible, your injury needs to be present more than six months and must have an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral from your doctor. An EPC referral is different from a regular doctor referral, in that it gives chronic care patients with physio needs access to an experienced practitioner a maximum of five (5) bulk billed physiotherapy visits annually without extra, out-of-pocket costs.
Speak to your GP today to see if you are bulk-billing-eligible. GPs assess your situation according to established criteria like the severity and duration of your symptoms and on your request will send us your EPC plan.Note that personal income will not be a factor in your assessment.
