Joining the Own Body team in Nov 2017, Chris has brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to help expand this fast-growing mobile physiotherapy service to Adelaide.
Chris graduated from The University of South Australia in 2003 in Bachelor of Applied Science, Diploma in Physiotherapy. He began his career with the government agency Metropolitan Domiciliary Care, where he was able to develop the knowledge and skills required to assist the elderly to maintain their independence and sustain an enjoyable life while remaining at home.
The ability to empower them to re-establish their quality of life and to regain the independence they once had, fuelled Chris’s ambition to develop his career and within nine months he became Senior Physiotherapist. Now a certified trainer in the specialised manual handling technique of manutention, Chris also educated care workers and nursing staff within the aged care industry as well as teaching carers within the home environment of how to safely assist the elderly.
He has since built on his skillset; exploring occupational health and specializing in workplace rehabilitation and spent 10 years employed by various occupational health care providers across Australia, designing programs that helped connect therapy to functional and meaningful goals to ensure a successful progression back into the workplace.
Chris uses his energy, enthusiasm and humour as motivational tools, and focuses his treatment on assisting the client to reach their goals, meet life’s daily challenges, seek happiness and improve their overall wellbeing. What drives Chris’s passion for aged care is experiencing how fear can be transformed into openness and helplessness into hope. It is seeing the world of difference that reaching their goals makes for his clients, even if it’s as simple as being able to walk to the letterbox through to playing tennis again!
In his spare time, Chris is active himself, regularly attending the gym, as well as walking and playing with his adorable puppy, Patchy.
