Medicare Physiotherapy (EPC)
Australia's government-funded healthcare system, Medicare, allows eligible patients with chronic injuries or illnesses (e.g. osteoarthritis) to benefit from bulk billing. To be eligible, a patient needs to be present more than six months and must visit their general practitioner (GP) to get an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral. An EPC referral is different from a regular doctor referral, in that it gives chronic care patients with physio needs access to an experienced practitioner a maximum of five (5) bulk billed physiotherapy visits annually without extra, out-of-pocket costs.
Speak to your GP today to see if you are bulk-billing-eligible. GPs assess your situation according to established criteria like the severity and duration of your symptoms and on your request will send us your EPC plan.Note that personal income will not be a factor in your assessment.
As you might be aware; physiotherapist on the Owner Health website is self-employed. This means they set their appointment prices. If you want a bulk billed physiotherapy appointment you need to contact the practitioner directly before the appointment and confirm they bulk bill services to Medicare.
