The Australian government has a scheme called the "EPC" program. It entitles people with a chronic disease or illness to five bulk billed allied health appointments each year. People often call this the "Five free podiatry appointments."
Are you eligible?
You need a special referral from your doctor before the podiatrists can send your invoices to Medicare (EPC). The doctor has strict criteria you must meet before they can write you the referral; you must have had the injury or illness more than six months.
The majority of EPC referrals to podiatry are for osteoarthritis. If you have signs of osteoarthritis in your hips, knees or ankles you're likely eligible.
